Architectural Design Cost
Design fees will be outlined after the initial meeting and broken down to cover the different stages of the project. Depending on the type of project these can be worked out on a HOURLY RATE or a FIXED FEE BASIS or a combination of the two.
On a fixed fee basis we will give you a written fee proposal where we agree to produce your documentation needs from concept plans through to full working drawings including the management of the building consent application process. In some cases this is broken up into two stages, first the concept plan stage, and once the initial design is agreed upon another fee proposal for the working drawing stage.
For some projects where the design brief is not fully developed a time charge basis will be the best fee structure to work from. Under this method only time spent on the preparation of drawings will be charged for. Complicated briefs, council planning requirements, or difficult topographic sites all need to be considered in budgeting for architectural design fees. It should be remembered that your are getting a professional service that underpins the entire building process.
